Mapping at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games

For over two years, Limestone & Cooper consulted with the organizers of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Limestone & Cooper was engaged to provide mapping services for the 100 mile Endurance Event, one of eight world championship competitions.

The Endurance course traveled through famed Thoroughbred and sport horse farms, working corn, soybean, tobacco, and beef cattle farms, and portions of the Kentucky Horse Park. Horses and riders experienced our region’s rolling topography, 15 stream crossings, beautiful lakes, miles of freshly-painted plank fencing, traditional Kentucky tobacco barns, and even a landmark cave.

Limestone & Cooper assisted with the design of the course, GPS mapping of the course path, coordinating with landowners, and development of the course maps provided to competitors, teams, and spectators. During the event, Limestone & Cooper operated the Endurance Communication Center and was responsible for tracking the progress of the race, coordinating local traffic police at 18 road crossings, and coordinating volunteers, emergency services, and veterinarians located throughout the course.

Limestone & Cooper also provided mapping services for the Eventing Cross-Country course and the Driving Marathon course.
